Merrifield Pediatric Dentistry is a woman owned local small business that started out based on Dr. Ghatak’s experience as a dentist and mother. Dr. Ghatak has personally lived the challenges that most parents face in providing the best for their children given the limitations of modern life. She understands that each child is unique and likewise each parent has different preferences. This has led to her vision of a pediatric dental practice where every child’s treatment is customized to them.
Dr. Ghatak focuses on preventative care and the use of materials and techniques that are not just functional but also therapeutic. She received her Dental Degree (DDS) in 2005 from the VCU School of Dentistry and completed her residency in Pediatric Dentistry at the UNLV School of Dental Medicine. She is Board Certified and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. She is trained in Orofacial Myology and is a lip and tongue-tie release specialist.

Frenectomy, Lip-Tie, and Tongue-Tie Procedures
A frenectomy “release” procedure is commonly used to correct lip-tie or tongue-tie issues. At NOVA Lip & Tongue Tie by Merrifield Pediatric Dentistry, Dr. Ghatak specializes in safe and effective infant frenectomy procedures that she performs using a soft tissue laser or traditional surgical techniques.
Orthodontics & Pre-Orthodontics
Merrifield Pediatric Dentistry provides early orthodontic treatment for children ages 6-10 to guide jaw development and tooth alignment. Dr. Ghatak offers orthodontic expanders and Invisalign options that are removable, comfortable, and designed specifically for young patients without traditional brackets or wires.
Myofunctional Therapy & Lactation Support
Dr. Ghatak offers certified myofunctional therapy to train facial and mouth muscles for proper eating, speaking, breathing, and swallowing. Dr. Ghatak treats pediatric sleep apnea and breathing disorders that disrupt children's sleep through airway obstruction. Early treatment is essential for proper development, as these conditions often stem from enlarged tonsils, adenoids, or craniofacial issues in children ages 2-6.

Once you’ve gained control of the situation, take assessment of your injury. If you’re experiencing any bleeding, place a strip of gauze on the site of the injury and apply pressure with your by biting down on the gauze.
CONTROL SWELLING
Over-the-counter medications like ibuprofen or acetaminophen can help to temporarily reduce pain and swelling. However, steer clear of any blood-thinning medications like aspirin. An ice pack or cold compress can be applied to the cheek near the affected area to help reduce pain and inflammation.

Simply call our office and set up an appointment for yourself or your family members.!
How can I use my Member Exclusive discount for restorative, elective or cosmetic treatment?
Simply schedule an appointment with our office and be sure to tell us you’re a member. When you arrive, we’ll make sure your membership is “current” and you will be eligible for instant savings off our regular fees.
How do I know if I need Perio membership?
If you’re a current patient, please contact us to confirm you’re on Perio Maintenance. If you are a new patient, we will make a recommendation after your initial exam.
What happens if I miss an appointment?
It will be your responsibility to reschedule. Please see our office policy regarding no-shows and last minute cancellations.
Can I add members to my account?
Absolutely! Your entire family can join.
Can I transfer my membership to another dentist?
Your club membership is solely with our office and as such is non-transferrable. If you move to another area, you may cancel your membership at any time.
How can I check on the status of my account?
Login to your Member Portal and look under Account Members. You’ll see the status of each member above his/her name.
Can I change or update my billing information?
Yes! Simply login to your Member Portal and click “Edit Your Payment Method”.
How do I cancel my membership?
Login to your Member Portal and click the “Remove” button for each member you’d like to cancel.
If I cancel, can I get a refund on my membership?
No. Refunds will not be provided for dues paid under any circumstances, including failure to schedule and maintain appointments.
How much do I pay to sign up for my club membership?
You’ll pay only the Lifetime Activation fee to join. This fee includes your first month’s membership dues.
Can I prepay my membership fees?
Memberships are currently month-to-month only.
